A Step in the Right Direction
by Lee on Jan 19, 2007 11:21:02
Seems to be a reprise of SB 2. It is a step in the right direction, without apparent conflicts with the goal of single payer.

Summary

By Senate President Pro-Tem Don Perata (co-sponsor, Sheila Kuehl), this is his health care plan.

Background

This bill contains Senator Perata's plan to cover all working Californians and dependents. It contains an individual mandate requiring all working Californian's to have a minimum health coverage policy. The bill also contains an unspecified employer mandate, requiring employers to cover employees or pay into a State Trust Fund.

This PDF outlines the Perata plan and compares it with both Speaker Nunez' plan and Governor Schwarzenegger's plan.
