Summary

Would require a recommendation by June 1, 2008, a course of action regarding pupils with disabilities who meet all state and local graduation requirements except the passage of the high school exit examination; including alternative ways of evaluating the knowledge and skills that are required to pass the high school exit examination so that these pupils may demonstrate that they possess that knowledge and those skills through alternative methods.

Background

Existing law requires each pupil completing grade 12 to successfully pass the high school exit examination as a condition of receiving a diploma of graduation or graduation from high school.
